Creating the Costume: I sewed up some burlap to make a dress to wear over my outfit for the day. I could have made a dress out of butcher paper and been more like the book, but I wanted a costume that would last more than one reading. To make myself soot covered like she is in the book, I used my dirty dry erase erasers rubbed on my arms.
Delivery: This story is a great twist on your typical fairy tale. It also was a good way to introduce facts and opinions, since the book lends itself to creating an opinion about it’s characters and we use facts from the story to support the opinions we formed.
